Credit card debt counselling is a popular option amongst those who have found themselves with some credit card debt. The counselling company will basically sit you down, take the load and panic off your shoulders, and tell you how to approach your situation.
Representitives from the company will assess your current financial situation; for example, the ratio of your debts against your credits. Most will then provide you with some sort of review regarding you circumstances, for example your current expenditure flow, against your income. Personalised goals will then be tailored for you, targeting clearing your debts as a priority. You will be provided with some sort of debt management plan.
At the end of the counselling, you will be better informed of your options, and realise that you don’t have to struggle.
However, though this seems like a magical solution, not everything is a fairy tale. You must be diligent and research which company will best suit you as there are many out there.
For example, you know you have a limited budget, so make sure the counselling companies costs are reasonable. Most, if not all, counselling companies are non-profit organisations. So be sure to make sure the one you have chosen is a non-profit organisation. They should further be certified by an sovereign organisation. In terms of credibility, most will choose and organisation company which has been running for over 5 years or so. This way you can find out previous customers recommendations.
Never the less, find out if the counselling company offers free educational advice on managing your finances, as this will not only help you, but show the organisation is out to do what it represents, and names itself reliable. Most of all, the agency must be willing to answer all your questions and worries with no holdbacks. If they cant, well, you need to move on!
